The Leatherback Turtle suffers from incidents of egg harvesting and accidental net trapping. In addition to egg harvesting, adult turtles are also harvested. Net trapping is most common with gill nets and also occurs with the use of dredges, trawls, longlines, and traps and pots.
Conservation efforts are difficult to keep track of due to the pelagic nature of this animal. Meaning, they take long migrations and thus come in contact with any peopleof many different nations. This makes it very difficult for any one countryto start and keep up with conservation efforts and programs.
